Mad in Finland – Le Film
Elice Abonce Muhonen & Galapiat Cirque
The performance Mad in Finland was intended to be a one off – but turned out to be a success, which has now been touring for 10 years. And now, it is also a film. Welcome to its Sweden premiere!
Elice Abonce Muhonen was one of the initiators of the performance Mad in Finland. When she decided to make it into a film version, she wanted to go beyond just filming it – she decided to make a circus film which with humor and warmth celebrates collective work, the Finnish roots and womanhood – in the sauna, on the skis, on the boat. It´ s about circus as a profession and rebellion, asking the question: Why do we do this?
Elice is a founding member of the circus collective Galapiat Cirque, consisting of 50 artists, producers and technicians in Brittany, France. She graduated from the French national circus school CNAC. Her main disciplines are swinging trapeze, hair hanging and wheel of death. For 15 years she has toured internationally with her own productions. She is artistic director for the circus festival Pusu. Mad in Finland – Le Film is her first documentary feature film.
After the screening at Klarabiografen Thursday 15th of February, the audience is welcomed to an artist talk with the director of the film, Elice Abonce Muhonen.
